The science and technology teachers are working together on the non-fiction research project. We are placing the students in groups to gather information on their particular subject. We are making information packets and using books (do not have internet access) for the children to use in their projects. They will bring their work to the computer lab where they will type the information and add pictures into a Powerpoint presentation.

I have 28 students in my class. I'm going to divide them into 7 groups of 4. Each group will have a different animal of their choice. They will be given different topics about their animal that they need to research. I will be modeling how to do research through mini-lessons using honeybees. They will do their research using books and the internet. Once they have completed their research, they will then create their own books by typing their information onto the computer. They will also be adding non-fiction pictures from the internet and pictures that they have drawn that will be scanned into their books. The goal of this project is to not only learn about their selected animals and to work well in a team, but to also increase their computer skills.
